Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Limestone is standard ground for us in South Florida. What matters is knowing where it changes and how groundwater behaves, which we plan for before mobilizing.

Usually not. Entry and exit pits sit off the travel way and the crossing runs underneath. Some jobs need short traffic control at the pits, depending on the jurisdiction.

Both. Much of our work is subcontracted scope under a general contractor, or utility-side work for a provider or municipality.

Depth depends on crossing length, soil, and what is already in the corridor. Roadway crossings run well below existing utility depth.

About Miami Florida

Miami is the county seat of Miami-Dade County and the economic anchor of South Florida’s largest metropolitan area. The city sits on a low coastal ridge between Biscayne Bay and the Everglades, rarely rising more than a few feet above sea level. Incorporated in 1896, it grew from a small settlement into an international center for finance, trade, tourism, and Latin American commerce.

The urban landscape is dense and still building upward. Brickell has become one of the Southeast’s largest financial districts, while neighborhoods like Wynwood, Little Havana, Coconut Grove, and Doral each carry their own character and their own development pressure. PortMiami handles heavy cruise and cargo traffic, and the international airport ranks among the busiest in the country for global freight.

For underground construction, the defining feature is what lies beneath. The Biscayne Aquifer, a shallow limestone formation, supplies the region’s drinking water and keeps the water table only a few feet down across much of the county. Combined with continuous vertical development and utility corridors already crowded with decades of infrastructure, it leaves little room to open up the street. Fiber buildouts, EV charging, stormwater upgrades, and commercial utility work all compete for the same congested right-of-way.

Those conditions are exactly why trenchless directional boring has become the default method across the area. It installs new underground capacity without tearing up roads and without disturbing the dense, high-value surface that defines the city.
